Born in Italy, Cornelia Lochmann in her works fathoms the open land between abstract and figurative painting. Although many of her paintings are forcefully expressive and gloomy, they also harbour balance and quiescence. The core of her body of work consists in existential issues such as the quest for identity and the eternal friction between individual and society. Throughout her artistic oeuvre she makes use of different painting techniques reaching from ink drawing to mural art. The artist lives and works in Bozen and Berlin.
