Philip Shafer
► Artist Profile
Philip Shafer born in 1985 in Arkansas. Blurring the line between performance and non-performance, art and non-art, Philip Shafer produces work combining photography, sculpture, and performance to juxtapose disparate cultural codes. In the process, he challenges politically correct multicultural ideals, framing personal identity as something that’s fetishized and reified. Making explicit his own identity as a young, educated, gay white male raised in the United States, these works are further charged by Shafer's personal implicaton within this cultural equation.
Stefanie Walk
The work of Stefanie Walk combines aesthetic choices with sociopolitical content. Compositions between shapes, colours and patterns encounter decomposing gender stereotypes and the coherences of urban life situations and their reflection from different periods of time, which prevail in the present and connect and reintergrate or which are about to fade away into the irretrievable past- stuck in memento. Stefanie Walk's artistic language manifests itself in multidsicplinary ways using oil paint on canvas, analogue photography and videography. Born in August of 1984 in East Berlin, the artist is currently living and working in Berlin.
